Regulatory Harmonization Collection

Partnered Collections, Special Issues

While regulation of medicines is a key pillar of any health system assuring access to quality medicines, an unoptimized regulatory system is a barrier to access. Over the last 8 years the East African Community has harmonized processes and technical requirements for medicines, marketing applications that are consistent across the region and aligned with international best practices, and establish an accelerated joint marketing authorisation pathway. This Special Collection provides an overview of the East African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization Initiative, describes its progress thus far, and unveils the initiative’s roadmap for the next phase.
