Mendel’s legacy in modern genetics

Curated Collections

2022 marks 200 years since the birth of J. Gregor Mendel, widely regarded as the founder of genetics. In recognition of the legacy and impact of Mendel’s ground-breaking work, PLOS Biology has commissioned a collection of articles under the theme “Mendel’s legacy in modern genetics”. The collection draws on the opinion of experts in the field of genetics, who look back at Mendel’s original research and examine how well it stands up to modern views on genetics, and how it has influenced the field.
