Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease
PLOS ONE is excited to publish a Collection on the early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. As the aging population continues to grow, the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease is expected to rise. The disease incurs enormous economic and social costs and represents a major public health burden. This Collection includes work that provides insights into potential avenues for the treatment of the disease. This is complemented by a wealth of studies which report on potential markers of Alzheimer's, including how adoption of machine learning techniques can assist in its detection. Through a combination of advances in the treatment and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease this Collection takes us closer to reducing the global burden of the disorder.
