Blood-Brain Barrier Biology in Health and Pathology

Calls for Papers Collections

The strict regulation of the microenvironment by the blood-brain barrier is a key component of central nervous system function. Changes in the structure and function of this unique and dynamic interface are implicated in a variety of neurological disorders, and the high selectivity of the blood-brain barrier presents both challenges and opportunities for therapeutic intervention in the central nervous system. This PLOS ONE Collection highlights research into the structure, function, development, and modeling of the blood-brain barrier in health and pathology, as well as novel approaches to interact with the central nervous system via the blood-brain barrier.
